Sankta Lucia Piano Arrangement
December 13th is Sankta Lucia Day! For those of you who may not know, I come from a long line of Swedes on my mom's side. And this is a holiday celebrated in Scandinavia, traditionally with a procession of children led by the Lucia singing this traditional song.
The Lucia is chosen in a pageant each year. This is a celebration of light during one of the darkest times of the year for those northern Scandinavian countries as we draw closer to the winter solstice, and it marks the beginning of the Christmas season.
I did a piano arrangement of that song for my mom last year, and I am sharing it with you here today. This is an expressive piano solo arranged for intermediate piano. A lovely melody in 3/4 time that is perfect for playing at home on a cozy winter's evening or for a more sacred, formal celebration. Enjoy!
